Dr. Larry Rosenthal & Jason J. Kim, CDT will cover the latest and most comprehensive information that pertains to the diagnosis, treatment planning and case presentation of aesthetic and restorative cases. A review of smile design, preparation techniques and temporization will also be discussed. This will be a unique format that will conclude with a Q&A session and will allow the attendees to openly participate.

Dr. Michael Apa and Dr. Brian Chadroff will help you to better understand the concept of beauty and how facial aesthetic design effects tooth preparation, function, and gingival margin placement for the periodontal/restorative team. This presentation will review comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning for both natural teeth and implants in the aesthetic zone. Surgically, we will review aesthetic crown lengthening, advanced root coverage techniques, ridge augmentation, and site development to enhance aesthetic outcomes and achieve ideal gingival margins.

• Learn to diagnose, treatment plan, and execute complex interdisciplinary aesthetic cases.
• Learn to understand the biologic rationale for aesthetic crown lengthening, learn current concepts in regeneration, root coverage and site development.

Dr. John Kois will speak on the Myth of Anterior Guidance. An articulator has a limited ability to duplicate or mimic patient’s functional movements. This creates a disadvantage for the laboratory technician to provide a significant collaborative role. In addition, the role of anterior guidance is an assumption based on the concept of “Mutual Protection,” not biology. The problem of resolving biological concerns with mechanical solutions is not logical. When our patients undergo mastication, the guidance we create may overload the anterior teeth leading to excessive friction, structural failure, tooth mobility, spacing, and temporomandibular dysfunction. This lecture will explore this paradox and develop better ways to reduce these risks by understanding our individual patient’s masticatory system and provide better communication keys to the laboratory.

• Understand the envelope of function specific to the patientbeing treated.
• Create the communication keys necessary for the laboratory technician.
• Material selection cannot overcome improper occlusal management.

This program is the first of a series of programs designed to allow the dentist and his team to expand their knowledge, learn cutting edge techniques, gain exposure to high tech tools, become more comfortable with case presentation, treatment planning and case closure. They will also learn to communicate better with their specialist and their ceramist for a more predictable and ideal case outcome. Courses on practice management, Hands-on courses on tooth preparation/ temporization, hands-on courses on occlusion will be also available.
